Description
Doulton Imperial Ultracarb 10" Ceramic FilterThe Doulton Imperial filter W9223022 is a 4-stage ceramic filter cartridge that combines the anti-microbial properties of ceramic with the enhanced properties of silver ion and activated carbon block as well as the heavy metal reduction capabilities of ion exchange media. This filter is ideal for removing off-tastes and odors in addition to particles, bacteria, cysts, chlorine, organics and lead.
The 1st stage consists of a Sterasyl® ceramic outer shell which provides genuine sub-micron filtration to reduce fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts and turbidity. The 2nd stage silver ion media incorporated in the ceramic structure is self-sterilizing and further inhibits bacterial growth. The 3rd stage includes an activated carbon block inner core which is highly effective in removing chemicals including chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and many other organic compounds. The 4th stage incorporates ion-exchange resin media to reduce lead and heavy metals from the water.
Particulate Rating
Nominal particulate rating (0.5 - 0.8 micron) is for >99.99% of a given size as determined from single-pass particle counting results.*
Absolute particulate rating (0.9 micron) is for >99.99% of particles of a given size as determined from single-pass particle counting results.**
Home Applications
The Douton Imperial Ceramic Filter is designed specifically to remove bacteria and cysts from your tap water. The addition of activated carbon and ion-exchange resins allows for protection from chlorine, organics and some heavy metals as well. This filter cartridge can be used with industry standard 10" housings as a counter-top or under-the-counter kitchen filter.
While this Douton filter is popular for its convenience and portability, it does have some limitations when compared to reverse osmosis systems as it cannot filter our some smaller micron contaminants including viruses and endotoxins. This filter also uses more expensive media and requires more frequent filter changes which will increase your maintenance costs over time. For families that are looking for a long-term solution for their drinking water, a Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System is a better investment for providing ultra-pure drinking water at home. *Nominal Filter Rating: Filter rating indicating the approximate size particle, the majority of which will not pass through the filter. It is generally interpreted as meaning that 85% of the particles of the size equal to the nominal micron rating will be retained by the filter. (WQA Glossary of Terms, Third Edition, 3-97).
**Absolute Filter Rating: Filter rating meaning that 99.9% (or essentially all) of the particles larger than a specific micron rating will be trapped on or within the filter. (WQA Glossary of Terms, Third Edition, 3-97)
